Fairytale

It was fabulous! Fearlessly, you found the 3 fetishes in the Finnish fjord. With light-footed and foxy feints you ferry the fetishes to prince Fieso in France to free the fascinating faerie Fabula. But Fieso is not fond of foreigners, what a fiasco! You land freezing and foolishly find yourself trapped in a frightful fortress with fearsome floors. Now you must flee Fiesos trap. Furunkulus, the monster is a frightening freak, especially fond of foolish foreigners. He will feed on you if he is able. So you want to fool Furunkulus and flee to freedom.

Fearsome floors is a racing game with a twist. Not only must you be fast to the goal, but you must also avoid the monster Furunkulus along the way.

Through clever moves, the players try to move the monster so it goes after other players.

In the basic game, players can hide behind stones and slide through pools. Experienced players can add transparent crystals, turning stones, and teleporters.

Plan carefully, move quickly to the goal, and avoid the monster to win this game!

This is a simple game with long lasting appeal. The basic premise is to move your pieces though the house and escape to the outside world avoiding being eaten by the roving monster.

There are blood pools you can use to slide further around the board using less movement, blocks you can move around you can use to hide from the monster. In the advanced rules you also get crystals the monster can see through, Blocks that make him turn 180 deg, blocks that make him turn right and also teleports.

Each player starts with a number of people each of which move at different rates, once they have moved they are flipped over revealing a diffrent move rate. This is just plain FUN, you have to work out how you will get to the exit whilst avoiding the monster as well as trying to avoid or hinder your fellow escapee's. The monster movement is handled by gravestone cards with numbers on depicting his number of moves. He looks forward, left & right and as soon as he See's a player moves towards them. There are also 2 special move cards, 1 & 2 hit where he will move until he eats 1 or 2 players.

It has been mentioned this was not as good 2 player. I have to disagree slightly, I played this 2 player and found it was still good fun and played well. Admittedly it plays much better with more players as you all tend to get in each others way and if the monster catches up you lose people rapidly.

This is an excellent addition to the collection and will be played again.

The pieces and artwork are excellent and the fact you get 3 monsters made up of individual parts means you can build you own monster for each game which is just brilliant!...

I have the German copy of this game and although I have only played it once enjoyed it. The main critisisum I have heard from the people that I played it with was that if you managed to avoid the first rush of the monster you are pretty much home and dry.

We got around this by having two monsters which made for an interesting game although I would also like to play it using all the extra tiles as well.

This game is well worth playing every so often with the right group of people and as many extra monsters and bits as you dare.

I'd read good things about this game and was pleased when Phil finally got in a copy. However, after having explained to my son the rules, which are simple enough to understand, he didn't seem impressed. The object is to get your tokens across the room to the exit on the other side, avoiding the monster that tries to eat you. The tokens have two speeds, 1-6, 2-5 or 3-4, which is alternated each turn. between turns the monster sets out, looks ahead left or right and if it sees a token, heads off in that direction, eating any unfortunate characters it gets to. Maybe it was the lateness of the hour, but my son decided to make a beeline for the exit, which, two player, lost the games interactivity. I have heard it does play well with two, but on one outing it didn't shine. Maybe I'll amend the review after more playings. Tonight we've played with four and it was a much more fun and improved experience, even my son enjoyed it more and is now keen to play it more, so worth buying after all. Perhaps with 2 players we will use more pieces in future.
