|This is a game that has been published by several companies since the original Eon games version in 1977 and it's a tribute to the game design that this is still a very much loved and enjoyed game by gamers.
The idea is simple. Each player is the leader of an alien race and the object is to colonise 5 planets outside your own system by using force, cunning and diplomacy. Each player is given an alien race at the start and each of these races has a power, which basically distorts the rules in some way.
Gameplay itself is straightforward. You draw a card from the destiny deck, which tells you which colour to attack. You send over up to 4 of your ships and that player defends with what they have. You then play an attack card. Highest wins. If you win, you take over the planet, if you fail you go to the warp - a reserve area for the ships.
It is the use of the alien powers which affects this simple outcome and the fact you can ask for allies - other players to help you in your invasion. The defender can do the same.
