Two elk stare at each other across a river. Longing for the greener grass where the other elk is, they set out to beat each other to the opposite bank! Lots of madcap table top fun! You have to get your elk across the river before your opponent gets theirs across. To this end, you have to flick the stones (made of wood) across the table in such a way that your elk can rest it's feet on two stones without falling into the water. Since you can also flick your opponent's stones, it can get quite nasty.
