The British Player has 2 units, a bomber and a fighter plane, while the German player has 4 fighters.
First the german player places his 4 fighters on the board, then a weather card is chosen and the clouds are placed by the british player. Then, the British player uses the compass cards to lay out his route to a target city. After these are chosen, the german player then uses 40 hex tiles to lay down the german defences. Finally, the british bomber and fighter are placed on airfield spaces and the duel begins.

The actual turn sequence is straightforward, the british fighter moves, the four german fighters move, then a compass card is revealed and the bomber moves. Whenever the two forces meet, victory points are calculated and the victory point marker is moved either in favour of the british player or the german player.
