Whistling Death: If any one aircraft symbolized US Naval airpower in the Pacific in World War Two, it was the F4U-1 Corsair. This powerful, rugged fighter with its distinct "bent-wings" earned the name "Whistling Death" from the shrill banshee wail it emitted while dive bombing. Entering combat in early 1943, the Corsair played critical roles in the campaigns for the Solomons, the Philippines, over Okinawa and in the big carrier raids against Southern Japan. On 7 April 1945, dozens of Corsairs were directly involved in air attacks that sank the massive battleship Yamato, marking the end of the Imperial Japanese Navy as an effective fighting force. Whether dog fighting, supporting ground troops, fending off Kamikazes or attacking enemy ships, the F4U's combat record was exemplary. For this reason I have chosen Whistling Death as the title for this volume. - J.D. Webster.

Whistling Death: Fighting Wings; Vol .3, features completely revised and updated second edition flight and combat rules providing even greater realism and accuracy than previous games in the series. The second edition rules are completely compatible with the aircraft and scenarios featured in Over The Reich and Achtung Spitfire! However, Whistling Death goes further than them by adding extensive rules for dive and torpedo bombing, and detailed modelling of various class of ships. The Scenario Book provides extensive historical information and 110 scenarios spanning flight training, introductory air combat, air combat, air-to-ground and air-to-naval strikes, and mission level operations. It features 40 distinctive aircraft and numerous ship types.
