Neuland lies undeveloped, providing lots of space; only a few hunters and woodcutters live there.Players compete for building up a new civilization in which 15 various properties promise prosperity and progress, such as abbey, guild house, town hall, and stronghold... who wants which buildings and who will get them? To this end, everybody thinks time and again, "Would I rather work a long time but infrequently, or a short time but often? How can I manage to put my coats of arms on the coveted properties?" The first to place all his coats of arms wins the game.

|This is one of those games that I think has been underrated. The games involves a game mechanic where for example, food turns into wood, wood turns into stone, stone turns into swords, etc..
Another nice feature of the game is that turn order is time-based, like Tinner's Trail or Thebes and it is used to equally good effect here as well. On your turn you either erect a new building or place one of your workers on an existing building. The top buildings convert your products into VPs and the winner is the player with the most VPs after a set number of turns.
This is a gamers game and a real brain-burner where you have to plan ahead to develop your own path to get those VPs.
