This is a simple game to learn and play. The board shows a map of Europe overlaid with a grid, with various cities shown in 5 different colours. At the start each play selects a destination city card, on of each colour and they place a marker on the board from which they will start to lay tracks. Each play, a player must lay one track but may play a second. These can branch as often as you wish but must connect back to your marker. When two or more players tracks connect, you can then branch off anywhere in that network. Once a player connects all 5 of their cities together, the round is over and points are scored. The scoring is different here, as players begin with 12 points or so, and a player loses 1 point for each space that it would take to finish connecting all their cities - 2 points if it needs to go over a bridge or tunnel space. After scoring, a new set of destinations are chosen and a new round begins. Once a player reaches zero points, the game ends and the player with the most points wins. As I said, the game is easy to play and learn and can be played in less than hour. If you have TransAmerica, you do not really need TransEuropa as this is the same game but on a different map. However, There are several games around now which are doing this, such as Age of Steam and Power Grid, so this is not necessarily a bad thing.
