In this expansion for the prize-winning Carcassone, we move into the realm of fantasy.

The land around Carcassonne is being visited by a dragon, making life very difficult for the followers. Brave heroes venture forth to face the danger, but without the aid of the fairies, their chances are not good.

In the city, the princess seeks help from the knights, and farmers build secret passages to move about undetected by the dragon.

Another expansion for Carcassonne and the big question - is it worth having ?

If you have the game already, rush out and get this expansion now! In my opinion it is one of the most fun expansions yet!

For your money you get 30 new tiles to add to the tie mix, plus a lovely carved dragon figure and a star-shaped fairy figure. So how do they fit in?

Well, the dragon and fairy both start off-board. When one of the new tiles are drawn with a volcano on it, this brings the dragon into the game who comes and sits on the volcano, until another of the new tiles is drawn with the dragon on it. When this is drawn, the game is interrupted while the dragon goes on the rampage. each player in turn moves the dragon one tile in any direction until the dragon has moved 6 tiles. Any meeples that the dragon meets while moving gets eaten and returned that players supply!

This is where the fairy comes in. The fairy comes into the game when a player lays a tile and doesn't place a meeple. That player can then move the fairy to one of his own meeples previously placed. Not only does the fairy then protect that meeple from the dragon's jaws, but also not only awards that player 1 point each turn that the fairy stays with that meeple, but awards the player 3 points if a feature is completed with the fairy on it!

Among the 30 new tiles are some interesting tiles too, such as a monastery outside a city wall and a monastery within a city wall (both of which can have a meeple on them).

There is also the portal that when played lets you add a meeple to any previously laid tile. And the Princess tiles, which, when laid as part of a city, cause a knight in the city to be returned to the player's supply.

All in all, this is a really fun expansion to the Carcassonne line and well worth having
