In this two player game, players first explore and discover the area near the rugged and irregular fjords. Each is seeking the valuable farmlands, which are scarce, as they are squeezed between the mountains and the sea.

As they explore the area, each establishes farms on some farmland sections to serve as bases for later cultivation of the farmlands. After the entire area has been discovered, the players claim the farmlands near their farms. When it is all over, the player with the most farmland is the winner!

Contents:
* 40 landscape tiles
* 8 wooden farms
* 40 fields in 2 colours
* rules

I'm impressed with this little jewel of a game. The first half is a cousin (no more than that) of Carcassonne and maybe the tile laying part of Hellas. You place tiles to try and give yourself an advantage and place up to 4 farms on freshly laid tiles in order to potentially maximise your score later. The second part of the game is reminiscent of Go and Hey that's My Fish!, in that you try to close off areas that only you can exploit. Unlike HTMF, you don't do that by moving your pieces around but by placing tokens (fields) to block your opponent out. Anyway, the rules say that you should play 3 times and add the scores. I found that two plays were enough, but you can do as many as you like really. I'd also imagine that adding an extra set of tiles would be cool if you REALLY like the game.

Anyway, it's fun, quick and satisfying.

This makes a nice filler game for two players. A set of hexagonal tiles is laid out one at a time by the players. each of these tiles depicts a combination of either mountain, sea or fields and must be laid with at least two sides matching previously laid tiles. As a player sees fit, he can also lay up to four farms on a just played tile also. These farms are then used in the second stage. Once all the tiles are placed, or as many as can be played, the game enters a second stage where, starting out from each farm, each player alternately plays a field token either adjacent to a farm or a previously laid field token, the idea being to try and close off an area to claim it for yourself. Once as many of these fields are played as can be, players count up how many fields they have laid, note the score and start a fresh round by taking back the field and farms of their colour and then reshuffling the tiles. The winner is the one with the most points after 3 rounds. At first it seems totally random as to what tiles you can lay where, but like carcassonne, gradually all these subtle plays start to suggest themselves. This is a good buy if you are are after a nice two player filler game.
