Genesis is a game covering the turbulent Late Bronze Age in the Middle East, where kingdoms rose and fell while establishing many of the systems and ways of life that underwrite Western Civilization. Much like its ancestor game, Pax Romana, Genesis is a game that provides players with the historical dramatis personae and allows them to forge their own empires. It also has a great emphasis on the control of the important trade routes and commercial centres, and the building of the spectacular monuments those civilisations left to be preserved for posterity.
Most important is the influence of the gods, from Moluch to Astarte, from Dagon to Baal, among many others. And each player also uses the historical kings and Pharaohs of that era in each scenario, from Shalmaneser of Assyria, to Akhnaten, the one-god pharaoh of Egypt, to Tushratta, to Hammurabi, with even a gues appearance from Moses and Joshua! There are 50 historical kings in Genesis each individually rated.
Genesis is very good for solitaire play, but also has many scenarios that use from 2 to 5 kingdoms: Egypt, The Hittites, The Mittani, Assyria, and Babylon, with peripheral powers, such as Arzawa, Hayassa-Azzi, Urartu, those pesky Sea Peoples and Elam. In addition, we have provided a short, introductory/learning scenario for solitaire play covering the campaigns of Sargon the Great, the world's first conqueror (2270-2215 BCE).
Genesis uses the Pax Romana game system of marker-oriented play that provides surprise, chaos, and great play tension, along with a deck of cards covering many unusual and evocative events and situations, from chariot technology, to Lukkan pirates, to slave insurrections, and more.
