Cute looking but pretty mean strategy game! This game involves moving your team of penguins around an ever decreasing ice flow made of hexes. You are trying to collect the higher scoring hexes by ending your movement on them. Penguins move in straight lines, so this makes for careful move planning, as you don't want to get cut off as the tiles begin to get taken away! This game is really good, I like the mix of careful planning to maximise your points yet at the same time trying to protect yourself from getting cut off and also trying to cut other players off. Plays well at all player counts and seems to be accessible for most ages including my 6 year old who loves it an is quite good at it! Only negative is that the game is a bit of a pain to set up as the tiles are quite small and the slightest knock can cause the hexes to split apart.

A great game for all ages. The board is a series of randomly chosen hexes upon which is printed pictures of a number of fish (from 1-3). Each player then places their penguins (2-4 depending on the numbers of players), and on each players turn he can move one of the penguins in a straight line. The only restrictions on movement are that you cannot move through another penguin or over an empty space. Each time a player moves they take the hex they were standing on an save it for scoring at the end of the game. This mechanism means that each time a move is taken the board shrinks and penguins will eventually find themselves unable to move. When no-one can move the scores are totalled according to the amount of fish on the tiles collected. Although the rules are simple the game is easy enough for very young players (and teaches basic numeracy), but is also fun enough for older players. The game plays very quickly (about 10 minutes) and we use it as a fun filler-game.

This game is so simple, the hexagonal tiles show 1- 3 fish on them, you lay out the tiles to form the board. Once the board is set up players take turns to add one of their four wooden penguins onto the board on single fish tiles. Turns progress by each player moving one of their penguins to another tile and then removing the tile they started from, keeping the removed tile for scoring. The board gets smaller and smaller over time and since these penguins cant swim???!! players pieces get isolated until only one player can move. Once all available tiles are taken players count up the numbers of fish on their tiles and the winner is the player with the most fish. This is a fun game with a little strategy and which is easily explained in minutes. Everyone I have tried this with has enjoyed it, from non-gamers to my somewhat jaded gaming group. Classic

A smashing and cute game to play with kids from about aged 4. They'll love it and so will you! It's got easy rules, but there's a fair bit of simple strategy in it and it's cool to look at. You can really think hard about what you're going to do, but it's better to play fairly quickly, of course. And it's easy to do variations by playing Knock Out style - 4 players start and the weakest drops out each round until there's 2, or by varying the initial tile set up. I reckon it would work great if you made extra tiles, too, and even had a few different fish values in there - lots of scope if you want it...BUT this game works brilliantly as it IS.
