In the year 1200, the foundation is laid for the cathedral of Troyes, but it will not be finished until 400 years later, after innumerable incidents.
This game invites you to experience four centuries of history by participating in the development of one of the finest medieval cities ever to make its mark on Western culture. Use your military, religious, and civil influence to make your family the most prestigious.
Troyes (pronounced trois - 3 in french) is a gamer\'s game from a new company and has dice in it as well, but the way the dice are used is quite unlike any other game.
This is a game set in the 13th century in which you use military, religious, and civil influence to make your family the most prestigious to win the game.
The dice in the game come in 4 colours, red, white and yellow representing your workers in the military, religious and civil areas of the city as well as black dice that represent invading barbarians each turn.
You place your meeples into areas of the city - which is how you get your dice - and then you use the dice to perform various activities in the city such as building the cathedral.
A short review like this can\'t do this game justice. It combines worker placement and dice management. Usually, dice are associated with a randomising element and a lack of control, but here, the dice are used in such a way that this is mostly avoided. The rulebook is well written, but there is so much going on in the game, that you\'ll need a game or two to fully appreciate the really good game that it offers.
