Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. You are one of the two most powerful traders in the city. But that's not enough for you, because only the merchant with two Seals of Excellence will have the privilege of being invited to the Maharaja's court. You are therefore going to have to do better than your direct competitor by buying, exchanging and selling at better prices, all while keeping an eye on both your camel herds. A card game full of surprises for seasoned traders!

Reviews Review Game

I sought this game out as it came highly recommended as one of the best 2 player only games out there and is ranked very high on Board Game Geek. Having played it I can certainly agree with the excellent reviews out there, this game is fantastic! Gameplay is extremely slick and well designed and play is fast with very little 'Analysis Paralysis' which can occur with more 'thinky' 2 player games such as Battle Line. Players are picking up and selling cards the aim being to collect sets and sell them in return for a high points total. What I love about this game though is the way they have taken this simple idea and mixed in some higher level tactics. The tokens you receive for trading goods descend in value, so the sooner you are able to sell you will receive the higher value rewards and vice versa. This is true to life and reflects the fact that if plenty of one good has been sold previously, then the market will reflect the lower value - supply and demand! Conversely though, bonuses can be received for selling 3, 4 or 5 of a good, which encourages players to try and collect more of a set in return for a bigger bonus, perhaps instead of selling early and taking the higher value reward tokens. This makes players think about what is likely to be the best route, given their hand and what is available to pick up in the market place, and also what their opponent has been picking up! The camel cards add a nice twist as well, as they can be used well to devastating effect if you need to swoop and clear the market place of goods! All in all this game is fantastic, easy and quick to play with some neat strategy thrown in and for the price point represents excellent value for money. Production values are also excellent with decent heavy card tokens and decent linen finish playing cards and a very nice insert. Unfortunately the insert won't accommodate sleeved cards but you won't want to butcher this insert, it is very nice and fit for purpose. If you're looking for a good 2 player game, this is one of the best in my opinion.
