Packing as much punch as the original Memoir '44 Terrain Pack, this Winter Wars expansion also manages to sneak in 114 new cards, giving a soldier all he might ever need to fight through some of the bitterest, coldest Christmas battles of the entire war.

This is not a stand-alone game. An original copy of the Memoir '44 game is required to play the Standard scenarios included. For best visual effect, a copy of the Winter/Desert board is also recommended. A copy of the Eastern Front and Breakthrough Kit are also required to play all included Breakthrough scenarios.


  • A 32 page booklet, introducing new Winter rules and containing 10 new scenarios (6 standard, 4 breakthrough) covering the entire Battle of the Bulge
  • 14 Summary cards introducing new Tank Destroyers & Heavy Anti-Tank Guns, Late War versions of Heavy Guns, Mortars and Bazookas, etc.
  • A deck of 80 Command cards, specifically redesigned for Breakthrough play
  • A deck of 20 Winter Combat cards
  • 88 double-sided Winter tiles, 28 Special Unit badges, 20 round markers and 16 obstacles

Okay first things first, this expansion should really have a big label on the front saying thats its primarily for breakthrough scenarios. If you dont have the breakthrough board expansion then a lot of the stuff in this expansion will be less useful to you. Also for best effect you will need the winter board to play the 6 standard scenarios, otherwise you will be putting snowy terrain on a non snowy board which looks silly.

The game come with some nice winter wars cards and new equipment cards which add little thematic nuances to the gameplay and these are useful in both the standard and breakthrough scenarios.

The largest part of the new cards is the breakthrough command card deck which is an alternative command card deck for use in the breakthrough scenarios, again its nice , but only really useful in breakthrough scenarios.

Overall its nice to see some battle of the bulge missions and the new terrain looks awesome when all set out. The set does what it does really well but its definately one for more hardcore collector than the casual player as it requires a number of other expansions to get the best out of it.
