|Find a job, keep flying. Pick up, drop off relive the nostalgia of the show and don't let the reavers bite! fun for fans but a bit too long for those not of this verse and takes up a lot of the table. Best played with the Blue Sun expansion|

|This is really a great game - especially for one based on the back of a TV program! We really liked both the series and the films and like the other reviews have said if you like the program the likelihood is you will love this game too! The basics are choose a ship (Serenity) choose yourself a captain (Malcolm) and then fly the verse! You have jobs which you can pick up on route and complete for rewards (normally cash) and there are locations where you can go and buy the services of people so in Silverhold you can find Zoe and Jayne. The missions, winning conditions, available equipment and crew vary from game to game, keeping things fresh and promote devising an efficient game strategy, while the 'misbehave' cards are great fun, requiring prior preparation and some good old-fashioned luck. There is also some (admittedly limited) resource management elements. The expansions inject some more variety into the game and are very reasonably priced, so there is plenty of longevity here. The component quality is superb and the card quality is also very good too. As said we love the game so for us there are no downsides to the game but I do have to be fair and say that for some people the game may be a tad on the lengthy side (this is mainly due to people getting caught up in the verse and not actually playing to complete the goals as previously mentioned) and the size of the board and number of cards included plus expansions means you have to have a pretty big table to accommodate it. There are some people that also say that the Reaver ship doesn't really impact on gameplay as much as some people would like it to (I think this depends on how you play the game) however I think that some of the future expansions may look to address this. Overall, this is a superb game, one for people who like pick up and deliver type of games and definitely recommended for anyone who likes Firefly!|

Perfect statement summing up both the Series and this game:
You each start with some job cards which can be legal/illegal and each one tells you where you need to start the Job, any pre-requisites needed etc. It also shows you what payment will be made upon successful completion. If you complete a Job you get a Solid rep with that contact which brings additional rewards and options you can utilise as you venture through the 'verse.
There are numerous actions you can choose between each turn but can only take 2, and they have to be different. Travelling the 'verse is dangerous so when you attempt this you can either mosey along slowly or take a Full Burn but doing this means you have to draw navigation cards (Alliance or Reaver depending on the sectors you are in) some are just "Keep Flying" others require skill checks or cause events or move the Alliance Cruiser or Reaver Ships .
All in all the Atmosphere and theme of the game suits the Firefly Universe very well, though one caveat to that is the first game is hard work as the rulebook is certainly not the best. Once you get a hang of how things work the game flows quite quickly and there are plenty of hard choices to be made along the way.
This needs a huge table, the board is quite big and there are a LOT of decks of cards each needing there own discard space, each player shipboard needs space around it for drive cards, upgrades, crew, jobs and cards to show being "Solid" with contacts. You really need to find an efficient use of space to fit this on smaller tables then there is only so much you can do ;)
The new expansions seem to be adding more cards and options which look like they will improve the gameplay somewhat as well as adding some additional player interaction options.
A truly social game with great atmosphere, with the right players, that can be quite long to play initially but it really does not feel like it at the time. This is probably my game of the year and one of the best licensed games I have ever seen or played. It scales really well having played it with both 3 and 5 players, but does not really have too much impact on play time. I would think with the same group of players the time to play would drop as you can streamline you actions by thinking ahead and can overlap to a degree depending on what other actions players are taking.
Excellent game that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone to add to their collection and will only improve with more plays.

|I had my first game of Fierfly at Spirit Yesterday & it was brilliant fun very evocative of the series and its setting if a bit long though that was the players fault to be honest had we concentrated on the game and its goals, rather than luxuriating in the 'verse we would have been done near to the quoted time. If your a fire fly fan get a copy and honestly wallow in it as much as play it.|
