A fast tactical boardgame for 2-4 players set in the post-apocalyptic world.
Command 1 of 4 factions:
Learn the features of your warriors. Use the weak points of your enemy. Be ready to change your tactics.
|An unusual but awesome tile-laying war game with puzzle/logic elements and lots of turn-based strategy. Each player takes control of a faction with certain characteristics/special powers. Players take turns in placing their HQ followed by their units (as hexes) on the board in the most strategic way possible, paying close attention to what order the units will fire in and also their effective range. There are other tiles that can be placed adjacent to units which will modify them such as increasing armour, damage or firing order etc. Players draw 3 tiles and place 2, discarding the other, which also adds some deep decision-making to the game. Once the board is full, or when a player chooses to play a 'FIGHT!' tile, a battle will commence and all the effects of the laid tiles are resolved. Damage on the HQ's is recorded and any 'dead' units removed from the board and the process begins again, winner being the last army standing! Excellent game which I really enjoy, the factions certainly play a lot differently, and I'm looking forward to adding more expansion sets. The components are great, although the damage tokens are a little fiddly, and sometimes I wish the board/tiles were just a little larger which would allow the art and symbols to 'pop' a bit more and stand out. A minor quibble though!|
